The Amargosa Desert is in western Nevada along the California-Nevada border and is named after the river that runs thorough it. The climate is characterised by hot summers, mild winters, and low rainfall. Despite this, the Desert is home to a variety of plants and animals including cacti, Joshua trees, yuccas, desert tortoises, bighorn sheep and coyotes.
