United States of America
If your holiday includes a visit to the USA please read the information below.
Clients planning to visit the United States under the visa waiver scheme must ensure they comply with US Customs regulations in advance of their travel.
From January 20, 2010 everyone is required to comply with the mandatory Electronic System for Travel Authorisation (ESTA), introduced by the US government for all passengers flying into the United States under the visa waiver scheme.
Applying is easy – customers can provide the information online at https://esta.cbp.dhs.gov/esta for an ESTA that is valid for two years, allowing multiple visits to the US within that period without the need to re-apply.
Clients who fail to apply for ESTA up to 72 hours before they depart may result in delayed travel and additional costs.
This will affect passport holders from all countries currently participating in the visa-waiver scheme including UK passport holders.
The legislation requires all clients to provide personal information including their name, date of birth, and passport details, as well as optional travel information such as the flight number and destination address in the United States.
Clients are reminded that they must continue to fill in the green I-94W form available at check-in or onboard until further notice.
Canada
Canada implemented an Electronic Travel Authorisation (eTA) which took effect for all visitors in September 2016.
The eTA is valid for 5 years and cost around $7.00. Apply online at www.cic.gc.ca. If your holiday involves a stay or touchdown in the USA, an electronic visa (ESTA) is required please see www.cbp.gov/esta. Further information for visitors to the USA please see above.
All visitors to Canada or USA must have a return or onward ticket and sufficient funds to support them during their stay.
Australia & New Zealand
Australia have implemented an Electronic Travel Authorisation (eTA) which applies to all non-citizens.
The eTA is valid for 12 months and is free but there is an online service charge cost. Apply online at www.australia. gov.au and scroll to Passport and Travel. If your holiday involves a stay or touchdown in the USA, an electronic visa (ESTA) is required, please see above.
UK passport holders travelling to New Zealand from 1 October 2019 will need to apply for an Electronic Travel Authority (eTA) style visa. For more information and to apply on-line visit https://www.immigration.govt.nz/new-zealand-visas/apply-for-a-visa/about-visa/nzeta. Once approved the eTA is valid for 2 years and can be used for multiple visits.
